FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Question:
  • How long is my portrait session?
Answer:
  • Your portrait session is catered to your particular photographic vision.  Sessions can be anywhere from 1 hour to 3 hours depending on the type of session and the number of people being photographed.  Children and babies can be unpredictable.  To achieve the best results, sometimes we need to go with the flow of the child.

Question:
  • How will I obtain my photos and when can I expect them?
Answer:
  • You can expect to meet and view your portrait session within two weeks after your session.
  • Once you have selected and approved your images and collections, you can expect to receive your final product in approximately four weeks (6 weeks total).

Question:
  • What should we wear?
Answer:
  • Plan the look you want a few days before your session and don’t be shy about asking us to help you prepare for your session.  Have everyone try everything on beforehand.  Instead of looking for top-to-bottom looks for everyone in your family, look in each closet for color themes.  For a soft, elegant look, choose neutral colors with soft, flowing fabrics.  Want to showcase the fun and spunky side of your family?  Choose coordinating colors with bold accent colors to complement each other (but not matchy, matchy which would make you compete with each other).  Including fun accessories like scarves, headbands, hats, etc. can add a modern twist and sassy flair to your images.

Question:
  • Should we eat before our portrait session?
Answer:
  • Yes, especially if your session is near a mealtime.  Bring their favorite snack as long as it’s not messy and they can eat it hands-free (no red teeth or chocolate chins needed!). Bring an extra set of clothes just in case!

Question:
  • How do we manage the kids?
Answer:
  • Kids are smart and they love being included and informed.  Show them the clothes they will be wearing, involve them in the discussion of what you will be doing and where you will be doing it.  New people and places can be unsettling to kids especially to toddlers.  So do what you can to turn your portrait session into a new fun experience to look forward to.  Mom, Dad...we've got this! Let's work together during the session and let it flow.  The kids will have fun and we will capture some great portraits!
  • Bring your kids’ favorite toys or treats and give them to us to use when needed to get their attention.  We won't overuse them or they’ll lose their magic.  Kids need far less prompting and are much better at candid expressions than adults. Don’t needlessly bribe them, it, too will lose its magic.

Questions:
  • Can you take a picture like this one?
Answer:
  • During your booking appointment, feel free to share pictures similar to ones you would like to display in your home. This will help us to understand the style you want.   It will also help you to determine if we are a good match.  If not we will refer you to someone that we believe can better accomplish your vision. We will certainly explain why and how we can or cannot create the same effects.

Question:
  • What is my portrait investment and what does it include?
Answer:
  • The session fee is $150 in studio and $199 on location and is paid at the time your appointment is scheduled.
  •  The session fee pays for the time, talent and travel of the photographer and staff.
  • The session fee does not include digital images or prints.
